Antique Infant Clothing - a heartfelt collection : )
I have two loves I return to again and again when I need solace and quiet comfort - my baby dolls and antique textiles. Through these dear little items I seem to feel the comfort and company of women who came before me. It is the history of our gender, the hopes, joys, struggles and sometimes acute loneliness that is particular to women, how we take our lives and try to express ourselves with beauty, how we try to make tangible in this world the love we feel as mothers, daughters, sisters and wives. How we try so hard.

I have been thinking of adding a page called "Wishes" to this website, and thought this special gown I saw on ebay would be on it. Surprise, I won! The seller, doylymolly, is from England and specializes in vintage/ atique textiles, all, from what I have seen, exquisite. Normally I can't buy at what for me is "high end", but I just got my tax return and those extra ruffles, seemingly so full of happy exuberance for the birth of this child, well... I didn't resist : ). I haven't held it yet- I'll update when the gown arrives.
Update: Gown is gorgeous. Now I am fighting an addiction to Victorian christening dresses!
