I have 2large tubs of older baby dolls. I acquired them from a friend several years ago. I cam seriously thinking of good willing them as I don't do this type of doll. Identifying them is a problem. Any suggestions? connyL

Hi Connie,

If you can send me some pics, I'd be happy to take a look and give you a general idea of the age of the clothes. In fact, before you give the clothes away, I'd like to take a look!

In general, clothing that pinned in the back are from the 30's or earlier. Buttons and snaps usually 40's to 50's. Clothes from the 50's and earlier were made from natural fabrics (cottons, wools, silk) no blends. Rayon was sometimes used. I don't think nylon was introduced before the 1950's, but became common in the sixties. Velcro is more modern and not particularly collectible, but I am SURE there are exceptions!

In general, the pre 1930 through the 1950's clothing is more collectible, though some doll clothing from from the sixties, such as for Thumbelina, and some from the 70's and 80's, particularly baby Sasha clothing, and perhaps original My New Baby (Pleasant Company) clothing, could bring a good price.

If the value of the clothes doesn't warrant the effort of selling them, another way to go is to give them to a preschool where they'll be well used and appreciated.

Sharon, I am so glad you wrote! After reading your comment I looked through my email, and I saw them :))) I don't know how I missed your pics the first time!

So lovely, and some of the outfits I want to see for myself so badly- how did you get that silk coat? I have wanted one for soooooo long! And everything looks so clean and lovely, you have a great eye.

I have the photos in my photoshop program now and will add them to our Dy-Dee gallery this weekend- can you tell that I am in Dy-Dee love? :D

Thanks so much, Sharon... I know there are at least a few other Dy-Dee moms who will get as much pleasure out of seeing your collection as I do.
